Abstract
The author of the article investigates the reduction of staff number of the correctional system within the framework of modernization of Russia, and also considers the issues related with its realization. The positive experience of Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in headcount optimization is described. The article presents methods of budget cuts while maintaining the number of employees in the institutions and bodies of the correctional system.
