Abstract
The article investigates the leading directions of bibliometric research carried out in library institutions. The influence of social communications in bibliometric activity of library institutions is considered. The basic principles of implementation of optimization of financing from the state budget for the transition to a modern model of development of bibliometric activity are determined. The main attention is paid to the improvement of bibliometric research. The experience of the formation of domestic libraries and information centers and the development of sources of the abstract database has been analyzed. Significant mass of productive information elaborated by information specialists of library institutions provides high accuracy, error-free search, which is important for the effectiveness of scientific research. When processing these arrays, a system of dependencies appears that enriches the subject being developed. Analyzing the experience of the formation of domestic libraries and information centers and the development of the sources of the abstract database leads to the conclusion that it is necessary to continue to improve the national system of referencing scientific and information resources and to expand the coverage of existing abstract databases and to introduce new information scientometric technologies.
