Abstract
Anti-NMDA (N-Methyl-D-Aspartate) receptor encephalitis is an antibody mediated autoimmune disease that affects the limbic system. An 8 year old previously healthy girl presented with acute onset of orofacial dyskinesia with bilateral choreo-athetoid movements involving all 4 limbs associated with urinary and faecal incontinence. Serum anti-NMDA receptor antibody was strongly positive. With corticosteroids, she recovered without any residual neurologic deficit over 3 months.
