Abstract
Aluminium Metal Matrix Composites (Al-MMCs) preferred over other conventional materials in the field of automotive, aerospace and other applications due to their superior and improved properties. These materials have drawn the attention of investigators from few decades. These composites initially replaced conventional alloys as they exhibit poor seizure and wear resistance when they were subjected to series of experiments and investigated their wear behaviour. Metal Matrix Composites are widely used in automobile and aerospace industries Because of their enhanced properties such as elastic modulus, hardness, tensile strength at room and can be used at elevated temperatures. In this paper an attempt has been made to present and highlight some of the aspects of mechanical and tribological behaviour of Al-MMCs and the prediction of the same.
