Abstract

The proposed article provides an overview of the concept of evangelical allusions in Robert Penn Warren's political novel The Whole King of The Sun. The features of the classic political novel are partially reproduced here, which is reflected in similar examples of the modern literary process. The main purpose of this publication is to consider the concept of God in a particular artistic model by identifying the functions of evangelical allusions. At the same time, we pay special attention to the presence of a prototype of the main character of the political narrative, the author's idea of the penetration of evil and forgiveness of good, ineradicity and immortality of corruption, thirst for power, forbidden methods of struggle in the course of election campaigns. We believe that The Heart of Robert Penn Warren's novel «All the King's Men» is based on the evangelical conflict between God and the Devil, between good and evil, between morality and treachery, between a new vision and a conservative evil. The empirical perception of God by the writer as the equivalent of responsibility and justice is reflected in the finale of the work.
