SUSTAINABILITY ANALYSIS OF INDUSTRIAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT IN THE GRESIK URBAN AREA OF EAST JAVA

Abstract
Industrial development is a strategic sector in driving national economic growth, but on the other hand industrial activities also have an impact on environmental quality. Therefore an effort is needed to realize the design of an eco-industrial park. Gresik Regency is one of the industrial growth areas in Indonesia since the 1970s that has developed in the form of industrial estates and non-industrial estates. This study aims to (1) analyze the level of sustainability of industrial development in the Gresik City region from 5 dimensions and 50 indicators of sustainability, (2) determine the factors that influence the development of sustainable industrial estates. Sustainability analysis uses the Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS) method with the Rap industrial (Rapid Appraisal for Industrial) software and Prospective Analysis to formulate key sustainability factors. The results of multidimensional analysis for industrial estates show a fairly sustainable status (52,47) which is supported by 3 dimensions including a fairly sustainable category namely; economic dimensions (58.12), socio-cultural dimensions (51.76) and institutional management dimensions (51.99).
