Abstract
In Iraq, due to the shortage in water supplies, needed for irrigation purposes at some areas, the existing wastewater treatment plants must be upgraded in order to achieve the nutrient removal for reuse applications. The Kinetic coefficients are considered as important parameters for the design and operation of wastewater treatment plants. Kinetic parameters of nitrification and denitrification provide useful information for process performance and efficiency, as well as operation and monitoring. The activated sludge configuration A2O process was performed in a bench- scale model, which consists of three reactors in series (anaerobic, anoxic and aerobic). The internal cycle and returned activated sludge ratios were fixed to 200% and 30% respectively depending on the preliminary investigation in this study.
