Abstract

Debris flow generally occurs at very high rainfall intensity and occurs suddenly so that it is difficult to predict and so it is necessary to deal with hazards due to debris flow comprehensively. Handling of debris flow problems in watersheds can be done by building sediment control structures. This study aims to determine how much influence the base slope of the flume, the distance between the checks and the effect of wood on the mixed debris flow discharge and formulate the equation of the mixed debris flow discharge. This research is based on experimental and conducted in a laboratory. The results of this study indicate that the more varied the size of the wood both in diameter and length has a tendency to be smaller the sediment concentration. The level of efficiency of debris flow that passes the test without wood is lower compared to the test with wood in the upstream check dam but in the downstream check dams the condition is inversely proportional. The closer the distance between the check dam is the smaller the sediment that is retained in the check dam while the percentage of the wood passed in the open check is greater. The results of the linear regression relationship between the height of the flow and debris flow discharge in the series without wood or with wood check dam shows that the height of the flow is directly proportional to the debris flow discharge
