Abstract
Many medical studies use Cox regression to assess survival time. Although Parametric models may serve as an alternative to the Cox regression in some conditions. This study compares the efficiency of the Cox regression and the parametric model in analysis of kidney transplant survival. This study is conducted on the medical report provided on 1439 kidney transplant recipients at eight various treatment centers at the UK Transplant registry from January 2009 to December 2012. The Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) is used for comparing the efficiency of the models. The result suggests that among the parametric models, the lognormal model has the best fit and is used as an alternative to cox model in analyzing kidney transplant survival.
