Abstract
The article focuses on the fact that production, life, education, culture, science, management at the present stage of civilization development are becoming increasingly digitalized. An indispensable objective for libraries is the challenge of integrating into the digital environment. It is emphasized that the library which plans to meet the requirements of pluralistic society, should combine, harmonize within itself all kinds of information resources on all kinds of data storage devices. The need to transform the structure of the library is emphasized, given that the main body of information in active circulation will be electronic resources. It is stated that in a digital environment the library will be able to function fully if it is digitized as a whole. Problems of digitalization of libraries are identified. It has been analyzed that, among other things, libraries need to develop information and analytical services, the products of which are very attractive to users because they contain on-demand information. It is such services that are libraries future.
