Abstract
Serum LDL-C is an independent modifiable risk factor for coronary heart disease and it is the major criterion for diagnosis and treatment of patients with Hyperlipidemia. LDL-C measurement done by Enzymatic Colorimetric assays and Friedewalds Formula in 130 fasting blood samples. Statistical analysis suggests that the reliability of Calculated LDL-C estimation decreases considerably with increase in the TAG levels. With TAG levels 400mgdl, Cholesterol is overestimated by Friedewald's calculation resulting in under-estimated LDL-C values and therefore the need for direct method comes in clinical application.
