Abstract
Rapid growth of trading relations between Ukraine and China as well as the overall Chinese economic rise time and again attract attention of our fellow citizens. Demand for information on China is constantly growing, however the lack of professional knowledge among journalists and experts, along with the absence of a standard unified system of transcribing Mandarin Chinese words and names, leads to deficiency of its presentation. The paper looks into main causes of inadequate transliterations, flaws of the currently used system and proposes some measures to improve it.
