Abstract
This work focuses on an episode in the history of Russian philosophy and in the scholastic biography of the outstanding Russian thinker Aleksei F. Losev (1893–1988). The article summarizes in a concentrated form all biographical materials related to the history of A.F. Losev's teaching at the Nizhny Novgorod University and the Nizhny Nov-gorod Institute of Public Education in 1919–1921. During his work in Nizhny Novgorod, Losev
was elected Professor and Deputy Dean of the faculty of history and philosophy, made presentations and read a variety of courses – on philosophy, aesthetics, philosophy of music, classical philology, ancient literature and ancient languages, independently and completely freely defining the program and the angle of the material. In Nizhny Novgorod, Losev received a unique life experience as a lecturer, teacher and an organizer of science.
