Abstract
The paper analyzes the impact of proto-megascience projects on constructing the collective subject of knowledge. Based on the analysis of the functioning of Big science projects, the author concludes that most projects involve the formation of communities of actively interacting researchers. However, we can hardly talk about the evolution of the collective subject of knowledge in scientific and technical projects related to the issues of countries' military capability or the development of commercial technologies. The formation of the collective subject of knowledge seems rather possible regarding the implementation of fundamental research projects, in which representatives of different countries take part. The structure of such projects implies equality of scientists representing different countries. This creates favorable conditions for the formation of the collective subject of knowledge.
