Abstract

The quality of water bodies currently involves laboratory analysis of physical, chemical and microbiological aspects that are altered as a result of urbanization. The objective of this research was to analyze three occurring aspects of two urban rivers: Prainha and Uraim, in the municipality of Paragominas - PA. This method used presented quantitative and qualitative coverage and exploratory character. Water sampling occurred at six different points (three in each of the two water bodies analyzed) according to the recommendations of the National Water Agency and the National Health Foundation. The laboratory analysis of physical parameters (electrical conductivity, temperature, turbidity, total solids, luminosity, wind speed and depth); chemical (hydrogen ionic potential, biological oxygen demand, phosphorus, nitrogen, dissolved oxygen, ox reduction potential); microbiological (term tolerant coliforms). All data obtained and analyzed indicated that the electrical conductivity and variations are associated with the seasonal period analyzed; the tendency of temperature increase in the Prainha River (27 °C) was more effective due to absence of marginal vegetation; in relation to the chemical, the pH is slightly acidic (5.0 to 5.9), and the microbiological, the concentration of thermos tolerant coliforms show a tendency of increase in the rainy period (+ 41.5%) due to the surface runoff during the rainy period in the Prainha river, which do not occur in the Uraim river.
