The Contribution of Theorological Basis to Religious Education- From the Point of View of Religion

Abstract
This article discusses the theological and scientific value of the theo-logical foundation of religious education. It is questioned how such research will contribute to the theory and practice of religious edu-cation. Regardless of the nature of religion, the problems that will be caused by the decisions regarding ıts education are pointed out. Our primary aim is to reveal the necessity of considering religious refer-ences in the foundation of religious education, therefore, it is to draw attention to the educational characteristics of Islam in its essence.In this study with a theoretical approach, “Why religious educa-tion?” and ”What are the main goals of religious education?” ques-tions are tried to be answered in the light of the approach of Islam. In this framework, some verses and hadiths that shedding light on the goals and methods of education are analyzed. Additionally in the light of concepts such as philosophy, guidance, reason and con-templation, ıt is tried to search for clues as to what kind of an edu-cational approach is foreseen in Islamic thought.
