Abstract
The present article contains the actual material on the close interaction between the Russian and Ka- zakh musical culture on preserving and developing musical instruments. The authors research the history of collecting the ancient Kazakh musical instruments in collections of Russian state museums and in private collections. The activity of K. Yamilov collector from Chelyabinsk having greatly contributed to the development of culture is of special interest.
