Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of development of a vocabulary of emotion in toddlers and pre- school children. This problem is at the intersection of linguistics of emotions and child psychology. Based on the data of foreign psychological researches and her own empirical data, the author proves that the formation of the language of emotions as an aggregate of emotion-denoting words begins at an early age and then it becomes one of the new growth of emotional development in preschool children as well as a pivotal skill of children's emo- tional competence. The article reveals the age-related features of using emotion-denoting words by children and the role of conversations about emotions between parents and their children in the development of a child's vo- cabulary of emotion
