Abstract
In the article, humanism is considered as an ethical rule and the principle of tolerance. The idea is sub- stantiated that humanism as a syncretic concept incorporates many moral qualities. The terms of philosophy close to humanism in the sense of the philosophy of humanitarian aid and equality are analyzed, their relation- ship is revealed. The antipodes of humanism, such as racism, Nazism and fascism, are examined separately, their inhuman essence is shown. Humanist theory and practice are put forward as an effective way to fight against such negative phenomena
