Abstract
The obituary for Candidate of Historical Sciences, researcher of the ancient and medieval history of the Finnish peoples of the Volga region V.V. Grishakov features the key milestones of his life and career. The main area of his scientific interest were the early medieval funerary monuments of the Oka-Sura region and the ethnogenesis of the Mordovian people. V.V. Grishakov is the author of over 200 scientific papers and 10 monographs, and in 2014 he was awarded the title “Honored Worker of the Higher School of the Republic of Mordovia”.
