Abstract
This study focuses on the impact cognitive linguistics has on the hermeneutics of John Sanders. As a leading theologian of open theism, Sanders arrives at his theological conclusion through a specific hermeneutic approach. Before evaluating these theological conclusions, an analysis of the hermeneutical key, which Sanders uses to interpret the Bible, should be made.
The article explores how incarnation affects human cognitive capabilities, as well as the human ability to reason about religious things. In addition, such a concept as a conceptual metaphor is considered. The Bible is full of figurative speech. What function does the metaphor have in the biblical text and what can it say about God.
