Abstract
In the early 20th century, Józef Bilczewski was metropolitan of Lviv in the Latin rite, sainted in Rome in 2005. His vast correspondence includes much information about the Church and society in the early 1900s. It also pictures political activity and the defense of Polish character and Roman Catholic Church. It can be said, that Bilczewski wrote a diary of a sort in which he accurately describes members of the Church, politicians and occupiers. There were certain misunderstandings between Roman Catholics and Greek Catholics, which still, after 100 years, hasn't been resolved in compliance with teachings of Jesus Christ.
