Abstract

Objective: Family planning is no longer seen as measures of population control, but it is considered as a vital component of individual as well as nation development and also a means to protect and promote basic human rights1. Study assesses knowledge, practice and attitude regarding contraceptive methods among married men. Method: Quantitative research approach with cross-sectional method was used in this research study. Total 200 married men were selected from Barkot village, Doiwala Block, Dehradun district by simple random sampling technique. Result: Study revealed that overall mean knowledge score of the married men was 9.65?2.433. Percentage distribution of knowledge level shows that most (86.5%) of married men had moderately adequate knowledge, 11% of them had inadequate knowledge, whereas only 2.5% participants had adequate knowledge. Majority of the participants have positive attitude but less practice regarding contraceptive methods. Conclusion: Study findings conclude that the knowledge of married men regarding contraceptive methods was moderately adequate. Therefore, research study brought need for further education of the married men regarding contraceptive methods.
