Abstract

Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in late 2019 and the resulting mortality have stunned the world. Human society may never have thought that a virus in the present century, with such advanced technology, could have such a major impact on human society and transform all aspects of the world's health, economic and political system. The virus has reportedly (until the time of writing this editorial, April 2020) been able to cause many of deaths in developed, developing and third world countries such as China, the USA, Italy, Spain, France, South Korea, Iran, Malaysia, Thailand and Afghanistan (over one million people affected and 50,000 confirmed deaths). Although strenuous physical activity can weaken the immune system, researchers believe that the link between physical activity and the immune system is a j-shaped one and that if physical activity is regular and moderate, it can improve the immune system (13, 14). Encouraging people to change their lifestyle and engage in regular physical activity seems to be a very low-cost method that can at least reduce mortality from such viruses by improving human health and immunity. In any case, it seems that the post-Corona era will be marked by great changes in global relations, and the importance of an active lifestyle will become more apparent.
