Abstract
In many works of domestic and foreign literature there are descriptions of animals: their appearance, specific character traits. Since the Middle Ages, the genre of bestiary has undergone significant changes, but its echoes can be easily found in the works of various places and times of writing, for example, in the novel by M.A. Bulgakov «Master and Margarita» and the fairy tale of L. Carroll «Alice in the Land Miracles». This article offers an analysis of the genre conformity of bestiary and its discrepancies in modern literature, as well as, on the example of analysis of M.M. Bulgakov's novel «The Master and Margarita» and L. Carroll's fairy tales «Alice in Wonderland», demonstrated genre echoes of such a structure.
