Abstract
The article focuses on the importance of developing pragmatic competence among students of a foreign language. As a material, it is proposed to study texts of various genres, by analyzing the unusual utilization of vocabulary in them and comparing their dictionary and contextual meanings. In addition, it is proposed to pay special attention to the use of forbidden vocabulary.
