Abstract
The present study was investigated at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Araria engaged in various interventions like On Farm Trials (OFT), Frontline Demonstrations (FLD), need based training and other Extension activities in the field of agriculture and allied sectors. In the year 2013 and 2014 FLD on Jute was conducted among 77 farmers. Hence, they were selected purposively as respondent and comprised sample for the present study. It was observed that among all constraints, Lack of regulated market, Lack of proper knowledge about improved varieties, seed, rate, spacing and sowing date, Low profit and Scarcity of water for retting were the most important major constraints perceived by the jute growers of Araria district resulting in decreasing acreage under jute cultivation. It was also revealed that among all four categories of constraints perceived by the respondents, Institutional constraints ranked I having highest MPS of 82.61 percent followed by Technological constraints (MPS 76.98), Socio-economic constraints (MPS 66.68) and Infrastructural constraints (MPS 65.68) having rank II,III and IV respectively. The findings of the present study provides the empirical feedback to agricultural development departments, state agricultural universities and various non-governmental organizations working in agricultural and allied departments to strengthen the research-extension farmer linkage by providing credible and timely information to the farming community.
