Abstract

On October 13, 2015, Labor Market Research and the Center for Labor Studies (CESTI) of the Higher School of Economics held a joint seminar accumulation and use of human capital in the economic development of Russia and the countries of the former USSR. Human capital is viewed as the most important factor of social development. State's expenditures on education influence the final macroeconomic indicators. D.Didenko, Senior Analyst of Vnesheconombank State Corporation and senior researcher of the RAS Institute of Sociology presented the report on the accumulation and applicationof human capital in the economic development of Russia and the former USSR-countries.The author presented the results of processing big amount of statistical data illustrating the formation of human capital in the Soviet and post-Soviet period.The author compares economic growth and productivity of the former USSR and China along with other productivity factor(capital). The speaker came to the conclusion that the faster accumulation of human capital in relation to capital funds have positive influence in knowledge-intensive branches of economy.
