Transformation of family institution as a factor of conditions of family upbringing

The article emphasizes that the changes in modern society impact the transformation of family institution and conditions of family development. It describes the development trends of modern Ukrainian family and transformations of family relations. The main of them are: change of traditional family life style, less strictness in its organizations; marriage at older age; non-traditional marriages; low birth rate; development of new types of families; high divorce rate; births out of marriage, transformation of the model of marriage and family conduct; unclear upbringing traditions; social disconnection between the parents and the children; change of values; unstable families, and lower family functional performance. It has been established that family institute transformations impact the conditions of family upbringing, family unstability and quality of function performance. Family conditions transformation is most often manifested in such types of changes as structural, motivation, value-oriented, interpersonal, procedural and subcultural. We have revealed the factors impacting family institution transformation and family relations including family crisis, domination of individual values over the family ones, family life style devaluation, loss of value by motherhood and parenthood, passing of a lot of family functions to social institutes; treatment of change of traditional marriage model as a social norm by youth and their striving towards freedom of relationship form and control over their lives. We have revealed problems most often arising in Ukrainian families. We have stated that analysis of main factors impacting family values transformation may become a prerequisite for defining the directions of state family policy regarding the change of family value in Ukrainian society.
