Abstract
This paper seeks to discuss the productivity of the pronominals strategies for using the 2nd person in speech (tu and você) and types of social relations between sender and receiver locked in 19th century and 20thcentury in letters produced writings by cariocas and mineiros. The focus of this study are the kinds of social relations that seem to constrain the frequency of use of strategies pronominal of the 2nd person in handwritten letters in the Brazil to the Theory of Power and Solidarity thought by Brown and Gilman (1960). To sum up, the results present the prevalence of the subject você in social relations symmetric and asymmetric of the carioca and mineiro letters already looking to settle the semantics of Solidarity in the nineteenth-century Brazil.
