The Mediating Role of Competence Expectations in the Relationship Between Parental Attitudes and Achievement Goal Orientations in High School Students

Abstract
This research was carried out to examine the mediating role of competence expectations in the relationship between parental attitudes and achievement orientations among high school students. 411 high school students participated in the research. Parental Attitude Scale, 2x2 Success Orientations Scale, and Competency Expectation Scale in Adolescents were used to collect research data. Descriptive statistics, correlation, structural equation model and Sobel test methods were used in the analysis of the data. According to the results of the analysis; parental attitudes and competence expectations predict the four dimensions of achievement orientations. In addition, competency expectations play a mediating role in the relationship between parent attitudes and achievement orientation.
