Abstract
The article proves the practicality of developing communicative
abilities in secondary school students in foreign language classes. It describes peculiarities in secondary school students' L2 speaking and structure and content of communicative abilities that are necessary for gaining foreign language communication skills. As a result, the conditions that are important for developing communicative abilities in the process of teaching secondary school students are stated and an optimal organizational teaching-learning form is presented. The latter is pair work, in which all members of the process collaborate. The use of pair work on each stage of foreign language communication demonstrates its advantages.
