Abstract
Volkmanns syndrome (SV) is a neuromuscular ischemia secondary to an increase in pore pressure in a closed anatomical space (osteo-aponeurotic compartment). Its occurrence in the neonatal period is exceptional. This diagnosis may be suspected when a case presents cutaneous damage associated with poor hand and wrist function after delivery. We report a case of Volkman syndrome discovered incidentally in a newborn at birth with cutaneous necrosis of the forearm or hand associated with motor deficit in the hand and wrist, recalling the data from the literature on this rare pathology and insisting the value of monitoring pregnancies andearly management of this syndrome.
