Abstract
Recently, it has become important to know what skills a person possesses. Unfortunately, it is impossible to assess the direct consequences of a person’s coming over a new technology for the production of more complex goods and the country's economic growth. In this regard, an attempt of indirect assessment through the Human Development Index (HDI) has been made. Using the correlation and regression analysis the paper has revealed that the components of the HDI influence the complexity of the country's economy. The empirical analysis of countries which have changed their HDI levels over a 15-year period also confirms the identified dependence. It has been concluded that the components of the HDI could act as regulators of the country's economic complexity.
