Abstract

Contribution of radar imaging Alos Palsar Dem in the determination of potentially favorable areas for rice: case of rice project of the Dimbokro hydro-agricultural perimeter (eastern central of the Cote dIvoire). This work is the culmination of a hydro-agricultural development project for the production of irrigated rice in the square perimeter of Dimbokro in the central east of Cote dIvoire. The objective of this article is to show the many potentials of alos palsar dem radar images in the production of cartographic data for the determination of areas potentially favorable to irrigated rice farming. The methodology used consisted initially of geotreatment of alos palsar dem radar images on arc-gis 10.22 software which made it possible to draw up maps of drainage networks, hydro-geomorphology and slopes. Then, in a second step, it was a question of making spatial analyzes starting from the requests to extract the lowlands favorable to the culture of rice according to the slopes presenting less risk according to the periods of floods and recessions. Thus, 22,181 lowland areas potentially favorable to irrigated rice cultivation have been identified; they extend over 2,978.05 ha with an estimated volume of 74,855,121.88 cm3, or approximately 25% of the space concerned by the project. In perspective, soil and geotechnical studies must be carried out for a more exhaustive study.
