Abstract

The history of the origin and development of women's education and teaching movement in the Russian Empire in the late 19th ? early 20th century has been reviewed; it was found that the issue of equality, granting women the right to be members of the public and social life, receiving education etc. have been discussed at various conferences and congresses; it was grounded the creation and activities of women's public organizations such as “Russian Women One-Charity Fellowship” (1895), “Union of Equal Rights For Women” (1895), “Russian League of women equality” (1907) and others; regulatory framework of educational women's associations has been characterized; women's editions “Women's Bulletin” (1904−1917) and “Union of Women” (1907−1909) have been analysed.
