Documents of the Period of the Directory of the UNR in the Fonds of the State Archives of Kyiv Region: Information Potential and Source Value

The purpose of research is to analyze an array of documents on the history of the UNR of the Directory period, which are stored in the fonds of the State Archives of Kyiv Region. Research methods. The article is based on the principles of historicism, objectivity, system. General scientifi c, historical and source research methods are used. There are analytical, synthetic, logical, retrospective, historicalcomparative, problem-chronological, biographical, heuristic, archeographic, critical and others methods. Scientifi c novelty. The content and information potential of complex of sources about the Directory's uprising, copies of normative legal acts of the government and ministries of the Ukrainian National Republic, dated the end of 1918 – the beginning of 1919 are discovered. Most of them are typewritten copies. Documents addressed to the Director of the State Guard Department, which are an important source of research of the history of the Directory's uprising in December of 1918, are analyzed. The information potential of copies of normative legal acts of the government of the Directory, the ministries subordinated to it, orders of the chief ataman S. Petliura is defi ned. The offi cial documents of local authorities on the territory of Kyiv Region (orders, instructions, offi cial correspondence of Kyiv provincial and county commissioners, journals of meetings of the provincial national council and zemstvo administration) are considered. The key stages of the life of the Kyiv provincial and county commissioners are reconstructed. In conclusions the signifi cance of these documents for the study of the regional aspect of the history of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921, features of economic, political and social life of Kyiv District and Kyiv Province in late 1918 – early 1919, society's attitude to government is determined. The information potential of the documentary array of the period of the Directory of the Ukrainian National Republic from the fonds of the State Archives of Kyiv Region for the study of biographies of public and political fi gures of the early 20th century is determined.
