Abstract

Abstract: Shoulder pain is one of the major complaints reported by the working population. A graded system of classification set upon pathological and anatomical origins have verified low productive and restricted epidemiological research. Objective: To estimate the frequency of work-related musculoskeletal shoulder pain among health care professionals. Methods: It was cross sectional study design and convenient sampling technique was used to collect data through Disability of arm, shoulder and hand Questionnaire from 271 health care professionals. Results: The study estimated 63.33% frequency of work related musculoskeletal shoulder pain among health care professionals. The number of female was more than male with mean SD + of age was31.72+5.538. 33.6% health care professionals had shown the limitation of their social activities, limitation of work and daily activities due to shoulder pain. Current study also shown the association between pain and the confidence level 53% healthcare professionals were not agreed with the statement that they felt less confident at work due to pain in their shoulder and arm. Conclusions: Th e st u d y c o n c l u d e d t h a t wo r k -r e l a t e d musculoskeletal shoulder pain was present in health care professionals. The prevalence of musculoskeletal shoulder pain was found to be 63%. This study also concluded the disability level in functional activities due to musculoskeletal shoulder pain.
