Abstract
Abstract: Hirsutism is one of the major problem in the world now days. About 26% women are affected by hirsutism worldwide. Objective: To nd out the determinants of hirsutism among young females attending dermatology department of Sir Ganga Ram hospital, Lahore. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Lahore. 100 hirsute young females were selected through convenient sampling technique. Data were collected with the pre tested questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using SPSS version 21.0. Results: Analysis of the data revealed that 74% females were single, 61% belonged to middle class, 49% were having normal body weight. 67% of the females were having hormonal imbalance, 63% females were having stress frequently. Also 66% females were consuming fatty foods on a regular basis and 82% females were consuming chicken daily. Conclusions: Current study suggested that hirsutism was particularly higher in young females. Major factors linked with the hirsutism were hormonal imbalance, stress, physical inactivity and consumption of junk food and chicken on a regular basis.
