Abstract

Lowe r ba ck pa in i s one of the ma jor musculoskeletal problem occurring in about 60–80% of people at some point in their lives. In several individuals, physical and psychosocial factors contribute to the development and persistence of the lower back pain. Objective: To nd out the prevalence of low back pain among hospital nursing staff. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted and Japanese orthopedic association back pain evaluation questionnaire (JOABPEQ) was used to collect data from 201 participants using convenient sampling technique. And data were analyzed by SPSS version 21.0. Results: Mean age of the nurses was 27.3,with minumum age of 22 and maximum of age of 44 years, among them there were 160(20.40%) females and 41(79.60) males. Among 201 nurses 140(69.5%) have low back pain,61(30.3%) didn't have low back pain. 13(6.47%) males and 127(63.18%) female reported LBP. Conclusions: Two third of nursing staff suffered from low back pain among hospital nursing staff of Lahore and there was a signicant association between LBP and female gender.
