The article considersthe development of puristic tendencies in the language of German philosophy during the 17th — 20th centuries. The creation of German philosophical terminology and the attitude of prominent German philosophers (G. W. Leibnitz, I. Kant, G. W. F. Hegel, J. G. Fichte, A. Schopenhauer, K. Marx, F. Nietzsche, M. Heidegger) to language purism are analyzed. It has been concluded that the German language every time turned out to be very suitable for expression of philosophical thought, which is difficult to imagine without authentic terminology
