Abstract
Тhe article looks upon the expressive means characteristic of O.V. Volkov’s autobiographical narrative “Plunge into Darkness”. The writer’s most important oeuvre has never been studied as a literary and artistic artifact. The vast archival material of the Stalin work camp era is not simply reproduced but is condensed in a gallery of portraits, landscapes - visual and audio images. In his “literary painting” Oleg Volkov utilizes light and silence as his main means of transcendental expansion of writer’s immanent style. The order in which light and day alternate or link define the superstructural metaphysic architectonics of Oleg Volkov’s book.
