Abstract
The modern reciprocating compressors are in increasing frequency designed for operation at different modes, in particular, for short-term operation with the increased discharge pressure. This may lead to increase in discharge temperatures by stages with a risk of overheating. A simple and cost-effective method of discharge temperature decrease for the reciprocating compressor stages is proposed in the study. The description of a mathematical model and software program developed specially to carry out this investigation is represented. The results of the reciprocating compressor operation mathematical modeling at changing the dead space in the forth stage are given. Adequacy of the mathematical model is confirmed by comparing with the factory test results.
