Abstract
This paper analyses the usage of Ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) as partial replacement of cement in concrete. The percentage of replacement of cement with GGBS varies between 20% and 80%. In this research work the GGBS modified concrete was made by partial replacement of cement with GGBS by 25 %, 50% and 75 %. Experiments were conducted on concrete specimens to determine Compressive strength, Flexural strength and Split Tensile strength. Concrete specimens were made of M20 grade concrete and M40 grade concrete. Prior to testing the specimens casted were cured for 7 days and 28 days. The obtained results indicate that both 25 % and 50 % replacement level of cement with GGBS show good performance by strength criteria. As usage of 50 % GGBS as partial replacement of cement is more economical this replacement percentage can be considered as optimum replacement level.
