Application of Analytic Hierarchy Process for Information Processing from Passenger Survey in a Public Transport Company

Abstract
The present study encompasses a questionnaire based study conducted on public transport buses in India, in different routes between Mysuru to different cities in Karnataka State. The seven parameters surveyed were Passenger comfort, Itinerary accuracy, Bus driver performance, Quality and price of catering, Adequacy of information to passengers, Safety and security of passengers, and Pricing and fares.The information collected from the survey was analyzed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP0 in its two modifications. The analysis showed the surprising result that the passengers considered Passenger comfort (34.8%), Itinerary accuracy (31.2%), and Adequacy of Information to Passengers (10.5%) as the more important parameters, while Quality and Pricing of Catering (9.9%), Bus driver performance (7.1%), Passenger Safety and Security (4.1%), as less important ones. Pricing and fares was the least important (2.4%).These results have been further analyzed and discussed
