Abstract
The authors have made an attempt for modeling and optimization of results of experimental investigations of fuel consumption for melting, carried out on a 200kg self-designed and developed rotary furnace at a medium scale cast iron foundry in Agra. The model developed consists of fuel consumption as output parameter and all others viz Flame Temp(0C), Time (minute), Melting rate(kg/hr) as input parameters. The model so developed corelates with actual experimental investigations and as such can further be used for predicting the melting behavior of furnace for other set ups alsoit was found that variations between modeled results and actual experimental results is % which is acceptable
