The Role of the Government in Providing Street Children's Character Education

Abstract

This article explains about street children's character education in terms ofGovernment OrdinanceNo. 87 of 2017. Problems that lead to the regeneration of street children are the weakening of the nation'scharacter, especially the character of street children, this illustrates the very lack of participation in warm-up activities such as ceremonies on the days of the Indonesian nation bothseven dozenand other major holidays.Street children or neglected children are the responsibility of the government or the state to be protected from their present and future lives for their survival. According to the provisions of the 1945 Constitution Article 34 Paragraph (1) states "(The poor and neglected children arecared for by the state). In line with these rules, street children are included in the criteria of protection and responsibility of the state, this is contained in article 22, article 23 paragraph (1) and (2) of Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning child protection. This research is a qualitative study using a descriptive qualitative research approach, data obtained from literature studies. The results of this study explain that implementation of Street Child Character Education Institutions in Bandung City can be done through collaboration between educational institutions and community institutions or courses and training institutions, or community associations/organizations as mentioned in Article 8 paragraph (2) which states " Other related institutions as referred to in paragraph (1) letter c covers at least governmental institutions, courses and training institutions, cultural centers, associations / social organizations, business/ industrial world, and/or related professional organizations ”. It can be started from the rules of government regulation that the protection of children can be implemented well, starting from the child's survival, the child's future until the child can become a virtuous personal identity for the nation and state
