Abstract
Malnutrition is more common in India. One in every three malnourished children in the world lives in India. In India, around 46 per cent of all children below the age of three are too small for their age, 47 per cent are underweight and at least 16 per cent are wasted. The prevalence of malnutrition varies across states, with Madhya Pradesh recording the highest rate (55 per cent) and Kerala among the lowest (27 per cent). In 1995, launching of Mid Day Meal Scheme was the major initiatives of Government of India. November 28, 2001, Supreme Court passed an order to regularize the quality of cooked mid day meal in primary school within 6 months. Even after the judgment, many states of India, where failed to maintain the quality standards of cooked food & implementing MDMS. The objective of this manuscript was to find gaps in implementing MDMS in Gujarat with comparison to other states and suggest strategic change model (The e5 Model- Educate, Enlighten, Enlist, Embrace and Execute) to the government of Gujarat and organizers of MDMS for enhancing major perceptive: Child Nutrition.
