Abstract
This article describes the issues of attribution, conservation and restoration of the memorial monument to Alexander Goryainov (1795-1813) in the Necropolis of the 18th century Alexander Nevsky Lavra. Each sculpture is a unique source of information about a bygone era, often without analogues, and at the same time – an integral part of our present, forming the modern appearance of urban space and its aesthetic appeal. Conservation and restoration of outdoor sculptures is one of the main tasks of preserving the cultural heritage of Saint Petersburg.
