Bolshakov Vladimir Ivanovich graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute in 1969. Postgraduate student of the Moscow Institute of Civil Engineering (1969−1972), Ph.D. thesis at the Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy 1973, doctoral at the Dnipropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute in 1985. He has been working at PSACEA since 1973, has passed the way from a junior scientific employee to senior researcher 1973-1974, associate professor of the Department of Metal and Wooden Structures (1975-1986). Head of the Department of Metal Technology (1986), Professor (1987). Rector of the SHEI “PSACEA” (1987-2017). Scientific internship in Manchester (1980−1981), INSA, Lyon, France (1989−1998), Lakehead University of Ontario, Canada (1994−1998). Author of books: Structure and properties of structural steels, 1983; Heat treatment of high-strength structural steels, 1987; Strengthening Structural Steels, 1993; Thermal and thermomechanical treatment of structural steels, 1994; Substructural strengthening of carbon steels, 1998. Wrote over 1712 scientific articles, 103 monographs. Has copyright certificates for 272 patents. Laureate of the K. Starodubov Prize (International Engineering Academy). In 1999 he was awarded the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology, in 2000 - M. Budnikov Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, member of the Association of Metallurgists and Miners of Canada, Honorary Professor of the Institute of Materials (London), member of the European Association of Mathematicians and Mechanics, member of the New York Academy of Sciences.
